Dr Amy Carmichael is a medical doctor with a passion for holistic health and wellbeing.
But, first and foremost, she is a woman who struggles with balancing everyday life, and keeping up with the pressures and expectations of herself, her family and friends.
Amy strives to be the best version of herself everyday. Some days she fails, some days she succeeds, and yet everyday, she trys!
Just like you, Amy is perfectly imperfect. And alas, there is beauty in our imperfections!
From an early age Amy knew that my purpose was to help others, so it was hardly surprising that she jumped at the chance to study medicine at Cardiff University in Wales. The human body fascinates her, from how we control our hands, to the intricacies of our iris; we are walking miracles!
Amy was born and raised in the UK, but then life and the pursuit of adventure took her all over the world, and she eventually settled in Australia.
In 2014, Amy reached a tipping point, realising that for the past ten years she’d neglected her body and put endless amounts of pressure on herself. A broken leg and some time to reflect pushed her onto a new path. A path of enlightenment and revelation.
From that point on she began to practice what she’d been preaching to her patients.
“Eat well, sleep more and be gentle to yourself.”
This became not only a personal awakening, but also a spiritual calling. As she began to improve her own health with nutritious food and taking time for herself, particularly spending time near the ocean, she reconnected with her true self. This journey to greater happiness made her realise that others around her had let their inner lights dim too.
So, armed with new knowledge about lifestyle medicine, and research showing the benefits of a happier life, Amy set herself a new mission: to touch the lives of 1 million people by 2019 starting with a Book and Retreats that empower you.
To relax and unwind Amy loves to be in the ocean, explore the world, and experiment with delicious vegan recipes. And, of course, she always makes time to practice what she preaches by doing yoga, jogging or training for her next bikini modelling competition.
